About

Hi – we’re Nate and Kelly. We are both followers of Christ, committed to the authority of His Word in every aspect of our lives.

This commitment to counter-cultural living, however, often fell to the wayside when the day-to-day realities of our marriage kicked in. What did it look like to take abstract concepts like a husband’s loving headship and a wife’s joyful submission and apply them to the real-life challenges that couples face? It seemed to both of us that, in our modern era, we have exchanged the beauty of Biblical marriage for a poor substitute based on non-Biblical ideas like equality and empowerment.

From this frustration, we began researching models of Christian marriage throughout the ages. We consulted hundreds of historical sources, interviewed dozens of experts, and most importantly, learned from hundreds of older Christian couples whose Biblical marriages we admired. Based on some of the surprising things we learned, we developed the ideas behind To Love, Honor, and Obey.

Nate is an ordained pastor who also works in Christian academia. He has an undergraduate degree in History, a Masters of Divinity, and a Doctor of Ministry in Applied Theology. Kelly is a wife and homeschooling mother who also writes children’s ministry curriculum. She has a degree in Children’s Ministry and a certificate from the Seminary Wives Institute.
